A. Elizabeth "Betty" Sowarsh
A. Elizabeth “Betty” Sowarsh, 94, of Springfield died at 3:55 am, Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at Lewis Memorial Christian Village. She was born on February 20, 1923 in Mt. Sterling, IL to James M. and Mary Marie (Woods) Dunn. She married Porter Sowarsh on July 3, 1943 and he preceded her in death on August 18, 2008
Surviving are three sisters, Joan Forgas and Eleanor Novotnak, both of Springfield and Regina (William) Welch of Glen Carbon, IL and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and four sisters, Helen Hartmann, Marcella Dahlkamp, Dorothy Neuman and Margaret “Peggy” Rose Dunn.
Betty was a member of Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. She was a member and past president of the American Business Womens’ Association Capital City Chapter and Illinois Retail Jewelers Association. She was a member of the American Gem Society and Who’s Who of America.
Betty was Co-owner of Bridge Jewelry for 60 years.
Visitation: 10:30 – 11:30 am, Monday, January 29, 2018 at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.
Funeral Mass: 11:30 am, Monday, January 29, 2018 at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception with Reverend Wayne Stock officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.

What a "gem" Betty was to the Springfield community at Bridge Jewelry all those years. She was THE ONE to go to, for sure, and generations did. She always remembered you, even if you only saw her occasionally. Betty was one classy lady.
