SPRINGFIELD, IL- Elfrieda Cannedy, 85, died at 3:25 pm, Saturday, January 9, 2016 at St. John’s Hospice. She was born January 9, 1931 in Scranton, PA to Julius and Frieda Poluta Kotowski. She married Gail Cannedy on January 4, 1957.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Gregory A. (Kathe L.) Cannedy of Rochester and Mark T. Cannedy of Phoenix, AZ; granddaughter, Lauren R. (Fiancé, Zach Zimmerman) Cannedy of Taylor, NE; brother, Ronald L. (Nancy) Kotowski of Springfield; daughter in Law, Carla K. Cannedy of Glenarm; step-son, Stephen (Nancy) Cannedy of Petersburg; step-granddaughter, Jessie (Dr. H. Krug) of Springfield; Step-grandson, Patrick Cannedy of Petersburg; five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Esther Johnson; and brother, Walt Kotowski.
Elfrieda was a member of Sugar Creek United Methodist Church in Chatham. She was a homemaker and a resident of Springfield for 68 years.
Visitation: 3-7 pm, Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at Staab Funeral Home with an additional visitation 9-10 am, Thursday, January 14, 2016 at Sugar Creek United Methodist Church.
Funeral Service: 10 am, Thursday, January 14, 2016 at Sugar Creek United Methodist Church in Chatham with Reverend Allen Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
