Eleanor M. Svetlik
Eleanor M. Svetlik, 87, of Springfield, died at 7:15 pm, Friday, December 28, 2018, at St. John’s Hospital. She was born October 30, 1931 in Granite City, IL to Andrew and Anna (Cervanek) Kish. She married John Svetlik on June 4, 1955 and he preceded her in death on May 1, 2017.
She is survived by her daughter, Carol (husband, Greg Midden) Kulek of Springfield; son, John (Amy Jackson) Svetlik III of Torrance, CA; two grandchildren, Stephanie Kulek of St. Louis, MO and Justin (fiancé Reve Theroff) Svetlik of Jefferson City, MO; sister, Mary (Edward) Petrunich of Springfield; one brother, Edward (Kim) Kish of Yakima, WA and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Eleanor was a resident of Springfield for the last 63 years. She was employed at Routman & Lawley, Ltd., as a legal secretary for 24 years.
Eleanor dearly loved her family. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and visiting with friends and neighbors. She was kind and generous to her family and friends, and always put others before herself.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; brother, Andrew Kish and sister, Leona Riecan.
Visitation: 10:00 am – 11:30 am, Thursday, January 3, 2019 at St. Cabrini Church.
Funeral Mass: 11:30 am, Thursday, January 3, 2019 at St. Cabrini Church with Reverend Kevin Mann officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Martin de Porres Center, Masses or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
