Edward Warren Loyd
SPRINGFIELD – Edward Warren Loyd, 90, of Springfield died at 4:45 a.m. Monday, Dec. 8, 2008, at Lewis Memorial Christian Village.
He was born Oct. 17, 1918, in Springfield, the son of Owen H. and Edna Lee Warren Loyd. He married Helen L. Malet on Aug. 15, 1939. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Loyd, a resident of Springfield since 1947, was an inspector for Sangamo Electric and retired from Hobbs in 1980.
He attended Wanless Grade School and graduated from Springfield High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving from 1944 to 1946. He was a life member of Third Presbyterian Church for 78 years, he joined in 1930. He was a member of VFW Post 755 and past member of the Flying 20’s. He enjoyed carpentry and playing the piano.
Surviving are his wife, Helen L. Loyd of Springfield; a son, Edward W. (wife, Becky) Loyd II of Lincoln; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Jack H. (wife, Betty) Loyd of Springfield; a niece; a nephew; and several cousins.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008, at Staab Funeral Home with Pastor Brent Mitchell officiating. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
