SHERMAN – Edward Jerome , 80, of Sherman died at 5:12 a.m. Monday, May 10, 2010, at his residence.
He was born Nov. 1, 1929, in Sherman, the son of John and Irene DeMarco Jerome. He married Eileen Flood on Sept. 25, 1954.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jack Jerome; and sister, Marie Downs.
He is survived by his wife, Eileen Jerome; five sons, Mark (wife, Pam) Jerome of Atlanta,GA, Mike Jerome of Sherman, Tom (wife, Kelley) Jerome of Bartlett, TN, Robert (wife, Aletha) Jerome of Sherman, and Ron (wife, Mindy) Jerome of Bartlett, IL, 13 grandchildren, Jennifer, Michael, Emily, Eric, Richard, Megan, Joe, Jake, Justin, Jessica, Nathan, Matthew, and Jack; three great-grandchildren, Stephen, Kylie and Eddie; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Edward was a resident of Sherman all of his life. He was an electronic technician for Sangamo Electric for 30 years and retired as an operator at Franklin Life for 15 years.
Edward was a member of St. John Vianney Church. He served in the United States Navy in 1952. Edward was a founder of Sherman Athletic Club, and Sherman Fire Dept. He was on the council of Knights of Columbus in Riverton, Sherman Village Trustee and treasurer of St. John Vianney Men’s Club.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, May 16, 2010, at Staab Funeral Home. Funeral mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday, May 17, 2010, St. John Vianney Church in Sherman, with Monsignor Carl A. Kemme officiating. Burial will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery, where Sangamon County Inter-Veterans Burial Detail will conduct military honors.
