Edward J. Charles

Edward J. Charles, Sr. 70 of Springfield died at 5:02 am, Saturday, January 19, 2013. He was born July 6, 1942 in Springfield, to Theodore and Eileen Cummings Charles. He married Joyce Glossop on May 2, 1964 and she survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Christine (Randy) Brown and Amy (Companion: Mark Brown) Charles; one son, Ed (Angela) Charles, Jr.; four grandchildren, Joseph, Kevin, Amanda and Alaina; three great grandchildren; three sisters; two brothers and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
His parents and three brothers, Ted, Jr., Mark and Bill preceded him in death.
Edward was a U.S. Navy veteran serving from 1960-1963 in the Vietnam era. He was a member of American Legion Post 32; Voiture 344, VFW Northenders and Fraternal Order of the Eagles #437 where he served as Past Worthy President.
Visitation: 5-8 pm, Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at Staab Funeral Home.
Graveside Service: 11 am, Thursday, January 24, 2013 at Camp Butler National Cemetery. Military Honors will be conducted by the Sangamon County Interveterans Burial Detail.
