Edward A. Hamann
Edward A. Hamann, 85, of Springfield, died at 12:35 pm, Sunday, September 21, 2014 at Sunny Acres Nursing Home in Petersburg, IL. He was born October 10, 1928 in Springfield, to Cochran and Lucile (Varney) Hamann.
He worked at the State Journal Register for thirty seven years, a News Editor of the State Register and the news editor of the afternoon edition of the Journal Register. He serviced in the Marines during the Korean War and was a member of Christ Episcopal Church for many years. He served as a greeter, usher, Challis Bearer, lector and also was a volunteer in the food pantry for fifteen years after he retired. Ed loved to travel and play bridge. He is survived by several cousins living in California and New York. His parents preceded him in death.
Graveside Service: 10 am, Thursday, October 2, 2014 at Oak Ridge Cemetery with The Rev. Dr. Greg Tournoux officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Sangamon County Inter-Veterans Burial Detail.
