Edna R. Duggins
BLOOMINGTON – Edna R. Duggins, 99, of Bloomington, formerly of Springfield, died at 8:45 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2009, at Heritage Manor in Normal.
She was born Jan. 21, 1910, in Springfield, the daughter of Fred and Helena Wolf Eisele. She married Hubert R. Duggins on July 23, 1930, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 19, 1987. Also preceding her in death were two infant children and two sisters, Dorothy Hashman and Helen Carr.
Mrs. Duggins was a resident of Springfield until moving to Bloomington in 1957. During her life, Edna had many part-time jobs, but she was the happiest being a homemaker, where she took great pride in cooking and gardening for her family. She was a sweet, gentle, caring woman who loved her family, her church and her neighbors. Edna lived a full and memorable life and will be missed by everyone who knew her.
She was a member of St. Katharine Drexel Parish at Sacred Heart Church in Springfield and Holy Trinity Parish in Bloomington.
Surviving are a nephew, Stephen (wife, Sharon) Carr of Bloomington, and a cousin, Marianne Edwards of Bloomington.
Visitation will be from noon until time of service at 12:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 9, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home with Sister Mary Jean Traeger, O.P., officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to charity of donor’s choice.
