Dorothy L. Lyons
RIVERTON – Dorothy L. Lyons, 85, of Riverton, a recent resident of Vonderlieth Living Center in Mount Pulaski, died at 12:20 a.m. Monday, July 6, 2009, at St. John’s Hospital.
She was born Feb. 25, 1924, in Breckenridge, the daughter of William and Alice Pearl Moffitt Harris. She married Arthur R. Lyons in Arizona on March 1, 1945; he preceded her in death in 1983.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a brother, J.W. Harris; and three sisters, Annabelle, Carol, and Marilyn Kay.
She is survived by a daughter, Lynnette (Richard) Moreland of Zionsville, Ind.; two sons, John A. (Marcy) Lyons of Decatur and David R. (Linda) Lyons of Riverton; eight grandchildren, David A. Lyons, Amanda L. Littrell, Lisa J. Lyons, Sara D. Lyons, Jenny L. (Mike) Mendenhall, Courteney L. Moreland, Abbey M. Moreland, and Spencer D. Moreland; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters,
Maxine Wells of Springfield, Donna (Dale) Smith of Auburn and Alice (Norman) Klienschmidt of Chapin; three brothers, Bill (Esther) Harris of Peoria, Paul (Patty) Harris of Williamsville and Sam Harris of West Frankfort; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Dorothy was a resident of Decatur for 20 years, leaving in 1980 and was a resident of Sangamon County since then.
She worked a beautician at home and a baker for Memorial Hospital.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 7, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 8, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home, with the Rev. Robert Twist officiating.
Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made to the Vonderlieth Activity Fund.
