Dorothy Ellen Denton Nelch, 94, of Springfield, IL died at St. John’s Hospice in Springfield, Illinois.
She was born November 11, 1916 in Springfield, to Clark E. and Callie O. Myrtle Rice Denton.
She is survived by one daughter, Janet E. Nelch and her companion, Cheryl A. Renneckar of Clearwater, FL and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Her parents; one son, Loren D. Nelch; and three brothers, Clark “Bud” Jr., Donald and Raymond Denton preceded her death.
Dorothy was a member of Harvard Park Baptist church and sang with the Silvertones. She was a member of the Ann Clark Circle of the Kings Daughters Home and The Daughters of the American Revolution. She graduated from Harvard Park Elementary and Feitshans High School. She was a volunteer for Contact Ministries, a supporter of The Animal Protective League and Friends of WILL.
After 22 ½ years of service she retired from the Illinois State Bar Association in 1981.
Visitation: 10-11 a.m., Tuesday, July 5, 2011 with a DAR service at 11 am at Staab Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at Staab Funeral Home with Dr. John Charlton III officiating. Interment will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Harvard Park Baptist Church, Animal Protective League, Friends of WILL or St. John’s Hospice.
