Dorothy A. Cordier
Dorothy Adrienne Cordier, 94, of Springfield, died at 12:50 am, Thursday, September 4, 2014 at Memorial Medical Center under the care of Memorial Home Hospice. She was born October 21, 1919 in Canton, OH to Andrew and Ivanka “Joanna” Michel Vitavec. She married George A. Cordier in Canton, OH on September 24, 1941 and he preceded her in death on May 25, 2012.
Also preceding her in death were her parents; sister, Jennie A. Previc; two brothers, Andrew W. and Edwin S. Vitavec and son-in-law, Keith Saling.
Dorothy was a homemaker, an excellent cook, seamstress, cross stitcher and quilter. She and her husband George were avid square and round dancers for over 60 years. She also loved her many travels around the world.
Her survivors include her daughter; Cathy Saling; Two sons, Richard G. (Carol) Cordier and Robert G. Cordier all of Springfield; six grandchildren, Douglas (Leigh) Cordier, Janice (Rodger) Anderson, Greg (Kari) Saling, Jason (Chris) Saling, Scott (Michelle) Saling and Lori (Zach) Kerker; eleven great grandchildren, Lindsay, Kaleigh and Emily Cordier, Isabel, Abigail and Carter Anderson, Brayden and Cohen Saling and Cayden, Brynnlee and Laila Saling and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside Service: 10 am, Monday, September 8, 2014 at Camp Butler National Cemetery with Reverend Dr. Bythe Kieffer officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to WWII Illinois Veterans Memorial Scholarship Fund, PO Box 5652, Springfield, IL 62705-5652.

We are saddened to hear of Dorothy's death. Dorothy enriched the lives of all who knew her. she will be missed by all. May she rest in Peace with George. .
