Dorothy C Mordock
Dorothy C. Mordock, 96, of Springfield went to heaven and reunited with her loving husband, Joseph P. Mordock on Friday, April 11, 2014 at 4:20 pm, at St. John’s Hospice. She was born on February 26, 1918 to Thomas and Marie Grubb Richardson. She married Joseph P. Mordock on August 13, 1949.
Preceding her in heaven are her loving husband, Joseph; sister, Helen (Bill) Kruger; brother, Gene (Alma) Richardson; brother-in-law Bill McCandless, and sister-in-law Myra Richardson. Dorothy left her memories with her daughter, Deborah J. Lewis and one son, Joseph T. Mordock, both of Springfield; six grandchildren: Cherish (Eric) Burton of Middletown, Tara (Donald) Cummings of Taylorville, David (Shelby) Lewis of Chatham, Jenny (Matt) Johnson of Beaverton, Oregon and Alyssa (Greg) Regan of Springfield and Breeanna Lewis of Dupo; nine great grandchildren: Carlie and Kaylee (Donovan) Cummings, Taylor and Camden Garecht, Cole Cummings, Hunter, Hayden and Anderson Lewis and Gregory Regan; and one great-great granddaughter, Serina Cummings; two sisters, Nancy Jane McCandless and Judy (Frank) Blahofski of Springfield; one brother, Thomas Richardson of Springfield and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Dorothy was a resident of Springfield most of her life. During World War II, Dorothy worked in Illiopolis at the Munitions Plant. After the War, she worked at the International Shoe Factory for many years. She was a homemaker most of her life. Dorothy was an avid Cubs fan.
Visitation: 4-7 pm, Monday, April 14, 2014 at Staab Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 11 am, Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at Staab Funeral Home with Reverend Sara Isbell officiating.
Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
