Donald L. Ballentine
CHATHAM – Donald L. Ballentine, 68, of Chatham died at 6:26 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 8, 2009, at his residence.
He was born Dec. 1, 1940, in Springfield, the son of Harold and Ann Rimar Ballentine. He married Mary Teresa Townsend on Aug. 5, 1961.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Teresa Ballentine of Chatham; two sons, Neil P. Ballentine of Chicago and Matthew D. Ballentine of Chatham; a sister, Peggy Noyes of Sherman; family dog, Ghengis; and two nephews, Jason Noyes of Sherman and Jeremy Noyes of Williamsville.
Donald worked at CIPS as a risk management analyst. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Church in Chatham and the Risk and Insurance Management Society, Inc. Donald coached his sons in their youth in sports and taught RCIA second grade.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009, at St. Joseph’s Church in Chatham, with the Rev. August Sperl officiating. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, 2009, at Camp Butler National Cemetery, where Sangamon County Interveterans will conduct military honors.
