Don Gannar, 87, of Riverton, died at 11:45 am, Sunday, November 15, 2015, at St. John’s Hospital. He was born March 10, 1928 in Highland Park, MI, to Floyd and Alice Drake Gannar. He married Barbara Guttke on June 30, 1950 and she preceded him in death on August 5, 1995.
Survivors include his children, Vickie & Gralin, Rick & Perry, Mark & Judy and Craig & Michelle; grandchildren, Jaime & Andy, Chris & Stephanie, Merle, Brittany, Barbara and Cory; two great grandchildren, Josiah and Jedidiah and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a brother, John Gannar, and a sister, Betty Mataya.
Don had attended First Church of God. He retired in 1984 from CILCO after thirty-two years of service.
He had a passion for visiting nursing homes and a love for animals. He was a storyteller and loved to make people laugh.
Visitation: 4-7 pm, Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at Staab funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 10 am, Thursday, November 19, 2015 at Staab funeral with burial to follow at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia, Illinois.
