Dominica Vespa, 93, of Springfield, died at 12:55 pm, Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at Memorial Medical Center. She was born November 7, 1921 in Springfield, to Paul and Mary Antonia Mezzepella Scaduto. She married David E. Vespa, Sr. on June 19, 1943 and he preceded her in death on June 29, 1985.
She is survived by one son, David E. Vespa, Jr. of Springfield; one grandson, John David Hafner of Paris, KY; two sisters, Josephine Madonia and Mary Antoinette Bart both of Springfield; one brother, Dominic Scaduto of Springfield and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one daughter, Teresa Hafner; one son-in-law, Roger Hafner; three sisters, Rose Giacomini, Virginia Madonia and Cheterina Mayes and one brother, Frank Scaduto.
Mrs. Vespa was a member of St. Aloysius Church and formerly belonged to the St. Aloysius Altar and rosary society. She enjoyed knitting and quilting. She also enjoyed listening to the radio and keeping informed on current events.
She retired from the State of Illinois Department of Public health in September of 1986.
Visitation: 10-11 am, Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at St. Aloysius Church.
Funeral Service: 11 am, Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at St. Aloysius Church with Monsignor David Lantz officiating.
Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
