Dolores “Dee” J. Nichols
SPRINGFIELD – Dolores “Dee” J. Nichols, 76, of Springfield, died Saturday, May 26, 2007 at her residence through St. John’s Hospice.
She was born April 6, 1931 in Springfield, IL, the daughter of William “Jack” and Georgia Wolke Squires. She married Carl “Bill” Nichols on June 6, 1979; he preceded her in death on October 28, 1995. Her parents; one brother, Jackie Squires; and one son-in-law, Glenn “Dicky” Blissett, also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Nichols was a homemaker for most of her life, but held many various jobs before raising her family. She was of the Lutheran faith. She was a past member of Eagle’s Auxiliary, where she was very active in the 1970s. She enjoyed spending time with her family, working crossword puzzles, and watching NASCAR.
Survivors: five daughters, Linda (husband, Gary) Shudrowitz, Jackie Blissett, Denise (husband, Roger) Burton, Tammy (companion, Brian Kolkhorst) Anderson, and Dawn (husband, Bill) Jacob, all of Springfield; three sons, John W. Hagaman of Sherman, Glenn (wife, Dinese) Tipps of Springfield, and William “Jack” (wife, Kari) Tipps of Mt. Pulaski; 26 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; many aunts and uncles; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Memorials may be made to St. John’s Hospice or the American Lung Association.
Visitation will be held 4:00-7:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 29, 2007. Services: 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 30, 2007, Reverend name officiating. Burial: Roselawn Memorial Park. Staab Funeral Home of Service.
