David W. Hampsmier

David W. Hampsmier, 82, of Springfield, died at 5:23 am, Sunday, January 15, 2017, at Lewis Memorial Christian Village. He was born September 15, 1934, in Springfield, to Loren and Maxine Coulter (Dupy) Hampsmier. He married Kay Avey on July 3, 1981 and she survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Donna of CO and Sherry of TN and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Roger Hampsmier and one brother, Loren E. Hampsmier.

David was a member of Elm Street Christian Church and was a US Army Veteran. He was a member of AF&AM Lodge in Florida; Scottish Rite and ANSAR Shrine. He loved railroads and golfing.

He retired from the State of Florida where he worked as an OSHA Inspector for ten years. Previously he worked with Illinois Central, Wabash and CIM Railroad.

Visitation: 9:30-11:30 am, Thursday, January 19, 2017 at Staab Funeral home-Springfield.

Funeral Service: 11:30 am, Thursday, January 19, 2017 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield, with Vaughn Beeman officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
