David E. Robinson, 57, of Springfield, died at 7:00 a.m., Friday, November 25, 2011 at St. John’s Hospital. He was born March 21, 1954 in Springfield, IL to Donald and Donna Duncheon Robinson. He married Mary E. Poos on Feb. 8, 1975 and later divorced. He then married Helen “Bernie” Cave on May 5, 2001 and she survives.
David is also survived by his three children, Alyssa (Corey) Stokes of Riverton, Andrea (Jason) Rench and Andrew (Jennifer) Robinson, and one step son Joey Chernis all of Springfield; two grandchildren Colin Robinson and Skyler Stokes; parents, Donald and Donna Robinson of Springfield; four sisters and four brothers, Karen (Steve) Gerlach and Nancy (Pat) Antonacci both of Chatham, Kathy (Tim) Hull of Sherman, Dale (Paula) Robinson of Lewisville, TX, Steve Robinson of Los Angeles, CA, Keith Robinson, Sandra Robinson and Lee (Patty) Robinson, all of Springfield and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
David loved fishing, hunting and going to the boat in Peoria. He was a member of Operating Engineers local #965. He retired from CWLP as an Operating Engineer after 30 years of service. He was of the Catholic faith.
Visitation: 10-11 a.m. Tuesday November 29, 2011 at Staab Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday November 29, 2011 at Staab Funeral Home with Reverend Tom Donovan officiating. Burial will be in Ashland Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or St. John’s Hospital.
