David J. Cawley, 63, of Springfield, died at 4:55 pm on Thursday, May 7, 2020 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born on January 6, 1957 in Springfield, IL to Robert E. and Lillian (Cookey) Cawley and they survive.

He is also survived by his wife, Bonnie Jameson-Cawley; two daughters, Trish Welch of Springfield and Beth (Jake) Eldridge of Lakewood, CO; two grandchildren, Charlotte and Caleb Welch; four step-children, Jamie (Jeff) Kaufman of Springfield, Ashley (Chad) Turner of Jacksonville, IL, Neil Hatcher of Viriginia City, NV and Melissa Jameson of College Park, MD; six step-grandchildren; one brother, Mark E. Cawley; sister-in-law, Carol Cawley; three nieces, Jennifer, Tara, and Taylor; and four cousins.

David was preceded in death by his brother, Robert David Cawley and one step-daughter, Kendra K. Hatcher.

Dave worked for Ameren Illinois in the Information Technology Department. He was a lifetime member of the Sangamo Surf Club and he enjoyed boating, sandy beaches, and life on the lake.

His kindness and huge heart was always willing and able to help anybody who was in need. This tragic loss will be felt by anyone who knew him.

All services are private. Burial will take place at Farmingdale Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
