Dante Contri, 83, of Springfield, died at 7:30 a.m. on Monday, April 9, 2012 at his home. He was born October 23, 1928 in Taylorville to Adamo Peter and Cherubina Ballarini Contri. He married Marcella VanDkye on June 3, 1950 and she survives.
He is also survived by one daughter: Mardana (Kevin) Beatty of Springfield; one son: Dante Paul (Darcy) Contri of Dawson, six grandchildren: Kevin, Adam (Tanya), Mark (Shelbi) and Jonathan Beatty , Dante M. and Dayna Contri; six great grandchildren: Jacob and Brayden Kelley, Lucas, Emma, Olivia and Madison Beatty; two sisters: Mary Touhy of Chicago and Louise Decknadel of Bloomington, MN; two sisters-in-law: Patricia Picchi of Springfield and Mary Contri of Sherman and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Vincent Picchi and Val Contri and two sisters: Rose Picchi and Clara Picchi-Morris.
Dante was a member of the 5th Army Medical Corps serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Third Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon. He loved fishing and being with his family. He was the owner/operator of Contri Dental Lab.

Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 13, 2012 at Third Presbyterian Church with Dr. Joe Eby officiating.
Military Honors will be conducted by the Sangamon County Interveterans Burial Detail.
