Daniel Carey
Daniel Carey completed his circle of life here on earth on the 30th of January, 2014 where it began on the 11th floor of Saint John’s Hospital. Daniel was born on that floor on May 13, 1955. He was reared and educated in Springfield, Illinois by his parents, Charles “Bud” and Isabell Carey who preceded him in death as did his oldest brother, David who died in infancy.
Daniel attended Cathedral School and Griffin High School. His passion was football and in particular, Sacred Heart Griffin Football where he served as equipment manager which initiated his hobby of making replica high school and college football helmets.
Over the years, Daniel worked at Memorial Medical Center, State Capitol Information Service, Bolt Enterprises and in the building trades, where his various talents lent themselves well.
Daniel especially enjoyed spending time with his daughter, Avryl and weekends with his two grandsons, refinishing antique furniture, restoring bicycles, discovering thrift store treasures and gardening. Daniel always had a love of music beginning with playing trumpet in the Cathedral Band and ending with his favorite radio station, WQNA where the Aging Adult Rocker and Ray Vaughn played all of his favorites.
Daniel leaves behind to mourn his loss, his wife and high school sweetheart, Mary Anne “Mare” (Dye), daughter Avryl Webb, her fiancé R J Craig, grandsons Damian Crowder and Jayson “JT” Webb, brothers Alan, wife Bobbie, of Baton Rouge Louisiana, Tim and Luke Carey of Springfield, many cousins, nieces, nephews and lifelong friends.
