SPRINGFIELD – Curtis Brown, 78, of Springfield died at 4:40 a.m. Monday, Sept. 24, 2007, at St. John’s Hospice.
He was born April 28, 1929, in Blytheville, Ark., the son of Harry L. and Myrtle Hopper Brown. He married Betty Havenar on Dec. 3, 1960; she preceded him in death. His parents; son, Michael Brown; sister, Bernice Bridgwater; and four brothers, R.V., Herbert, Odell and A.C. Brown, also preceded him in death.
Mr. Brown was a retired carpenter. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean War. He was a member of Carpenters Local 16. He loved bowling and golfing and was a St. Louis Cardinals fan. He enjoyed making trips to the casino boats.
Surviving are his son, Terry Brown of Springfield; daughter, Kim (husband, Tom) Thompson of Island Lake; three grandchildren; a great-grandchild; sister, Wanda (husband, Al) Hysler of Springfield; brother, Wayne Doc (wife, Carolyn) Brown of rural Loami; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to noon Thursday, Sept. 27, 2007, at Staab Funeral Home. Services will be at noon Thursday, Sept. 27, 2007, at Staab Funeral Home, with the Rev. Richard Chiola officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
