Cora Mae Scheer
Cora Mae Scheer, long-time resident of Arenzville, IL went to be with her Lord at 5:35 am, on Saturday, March 30, 2019. Due to the onset of Alzheimer’s and cancer, she was no longer able to live by herself and went to live under the loving care of her son David in Mississippi.
She was born Cora Mae Lovekamp on August 5, 1930 to parents Edwin and Mabel Lovekamp.
Cora Mae Lovekamp married George Donald Scheer in February 1950. George had passed away in November of 1999. He had served his country for 26 years in the U.S. Navy and all together they lived in North Carolina, California, Maryland, Virginia and Illinois.
Cora Mae loved to work outside in her yard, and she prided herself in preparing wholesome and delicious meals for her family. She also enjoyed traveling throughout the US and the Bahamas with Linda and her family, and with Donald and his family.
Cora Mae was a wonderful and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and was loved by all.
She is survived by son, David Michael Scheer in MS; daughter, Linda Kay (Scheer/Rogers) Valencia in GA; grandson, Jeremiah Rogers with son Danny and daughter Cayla in GA; grandson, Joshua Rogers with daughter Georgia in AR; Grandson, Luke Rogers in GA; Son, Donald Chris Scheer in IL, Granddaughter, Rachel (Scheer) Towner with son, Jonathan in IL; Granddaughter, Brittany with son, Connor in IL; sister, Dee Thomas in IL; sister, Marvel Gardner in OH; Sister, Myra Sundberg in AZ; Brother, Charles Lovekamp in IL; Sister, Mary Ann Lovekamp in IL and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Theresa Curry and June Houston and baby brother Antone.
Graveside Service: 12 pm, Thursday, April 4, 2019 at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
