Claude Gerald "Jerry" Goldsberry
Jerry Goldsberry, 70, of Springfield, died at 10:58 pm, Wednesday, February 12, 2014, at Memorial Medical Center. He was born July 11, 1943, in Springfield, to Claude Anthony and Ann Marie Takacs Goldsberry. He married Gloria Jean Wangard on October 29, 1971 and she preceded him in death on October 12, 2004.
Survivors include four children, Spencer Goff of Riverton, Michael (Julie) Goff of Illiopolis, Donald (Melissa) Goff of Springfield and Jeri (Jeremy) Bridgewater of Chatham; nine grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Ann Harris and Ann (Duane) Moreland both of Springfield; three brothers, John (Edie) Goldsberry, Sr., James (Shirley) Goldsberry, Sr. and William (Linda) Goldsberry, Sr. all of Springfield and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
Jerry was a United States Army Veteran serving during Vietnam. He was a resident of Springfield most of his life. He was a truck driver and retired from E.L. Shafer/ House of Brews. He enjoyed old cars and working in his garage and outdoors.
Visitation: 5-7 pm, Sunday, February 16, 2014 at Staab Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 10 am, Monday, February 17, 2014 at Staab Funeral Home with Monsignor John Ossola officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery
where Sangamon County Interveterans Burial Detail and the US Army will conduct Military Honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Hospital for Children.
