Charles Wesley Murphy, Jr.

Charles Wesley Murphy, Jr., 86, of Springfield, died at 7:47 PM, Tuesday, July 3, 2018 At St. John’s Hospital. He was born on August 29, 1931 in Springfield to Charles Wesley and Cecelia M. (Andrew) Murphy, Sr. He later married Arlene Zahn and she preceded him in death.

Survivors include two children, Kimberly Parnell of Hobbs, NM and Charles T. (Cathy) Murphy of Pleasant Plains; two step-children, Carolyn Faulkner of Springfield and Marilyn (Rick) Huckaby of Pawnee; eight grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Arlene Murphy; one grandchild; one great-grandchild; and one sister, Betty J. Mazrim.

Charles was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church and retired as the business agent of Operating Engineer Local #965.

He was a life member of the Elk’s Lodge and the Operating Engineers Local #965.
Charles was a United States Marine Corps veteran, serving during the Korean War.

Visitation: 4:00 – 7:00 pm, Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at Blessed Sacrament Church.

Funeral Mass: 10:30 am, Thursday, July 12, 2018 at Blessed Sacrament Church with Reverend Jeff Grant officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be conducted.

Charles and his wife, Arlene Murphy, who preceded him in death on July 25, 2007, will be laid to rest together at this time.
