Charles M. Theilken, 91, of Springfield, died at 6:30 am, Sunday at The Bickford House. He was born August 17, 1920 in Springfield, Illinois to Paul and Clara Theilken. He married Alice V. Dennison on May 8, 1940 and she preceded him in death on December 11, 2007.
His parents; one grandson, Brad Rusche and one son-in-law, William Rusche also preceded him in death.
Survivors include one daughter, Judith A. Rusche of Beaumont, CA; one son, Mark S. (Julie) Theilken of Southlake, TX; one granddaughter; four grandsons; two great grandchildren; one sister Winifred (Tom) Jenkins of Denver, CO; one brother Donald P. (Joyce) Theilken of Chatham and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Charles was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran serving during WWII. He was a charter member of Christ the King Church and the Postal Club. He was a member of the VFW.
A lifelong resident of Springfield, Charles worked for the US Post Office for 37 years and worked in a family painting business with his father and brother for 30 years.
Visitation: 5-7 pm, Thursday, August 9, 2012 at Staab Funeral Home
Funeral Service: 12 noon, Friday, August 10, 2012 at Staab Funeral Home with Reverend Joseph Ring officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery, where Sangamon County Interveterans will conduct military honors.
Memorial contributions may be made to Memorial Medical Center Foundation Cardiovascular Department.
