Charles J. Ludwig
SPRINGFIELD – Charles J. Ludwig, 74, of Springfield died at 8:35 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, 2009, at St. John’s Hospice.
He was born Sept. 8, 1934, in Springfield, the son of William and Barbara Hermes Ludwig. He married June Coady in 1961.
He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers, Leo, Bernard, Earl, Frank and Clarence Bill Ludwig.
He is survived by his wife, June Ludwig of Springfield; a daughter, Theresa (husband, Paul) Anthony of Springfield; two sons, Lance Ludwig of Springfield and Terrence (wife, Tammy) Ludwig of Bloomington; two grandchildren, Jacob and Jack Ludwig; a sister, Dorothy (husband, Dick) Roesch of Springfield; a brother, Paul Bud Ludwig of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by his faithful dog Sparky.
Charles was a lifelong resident of Springfield. He was a self-employed farmer.
He was a member of the Church of the Little Flower, the United States Army Reserves and a faithful Sacred Heart Griffin and Notre Dame football fan.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home, with Monsignor John Ossola officiating.
Burial will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
