Charles E. Reynolds
Charles E. Reynolds,88, of Springfield IL, passed away at 10:15 am,Saturday April 14,2018 in Pittsfield IL after 7 months of 24/7 Hospice Home Care provided by his nurses of 5 yrs, Cindi Mckenna LPN and Rachel Harris RN. He was born on June 24, 1929 in Springfield IL to Merle M. And Eva C.(Story)Reynolds. He married Janet M. Farley on March 12, 1949 in Lincoln, IL and she preceded him in death on January 6, 2007. Also preceding him in death are his daughter Karen; one brother William J. (Billy Joe) Reynolds and one sister Betty L.(Reynolds)Viebahn.
Surviving are one daughter, Deborah K. (Reynolds) Allgood of Springfield and one sister in law Donna L. (Smith) Reynolds of Chatham IL and several nieces and nephews.
Charles is a United States Air Force Veteran serving during Korean War. He retired after 35yrs from Norfolk and Western Railroad, starting as a yard switchman then brakeman, yard foreman and finally over the road based out of Decatur IL. Prior working for C&IM and Wabash Railroad, also 25yrs (1958-1983) for Norm and Eileen Rovey (NF Rovey & Son Excavating) delivering water and also driving dump trucks/trailers and operating back hoe equipment.
He was an avid joke teller, dancer, music lover, card player and gardener. Enjoyed traveling, including many (all family) vacations every year to Ozarks and Florida, and especially after he and mom’s retirement, going for winter month’s to Las Vegas for 25yrs, and of course day trips to Par*a*dice Casino in Peoria once a week with his brother Billy Joe.
Graveside: 1:00 pm, Saturday, May 19, 2018 at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Springfield where military honors will be conducted.
