Charles "Chuck" Hermes
Charles ‘Chuck’ Hermes, 64, of Dawson, Illinois died Friday, January 4, 2013 at Memorial Medical Center.
He was born December 25, 1948 in Springfield; the son of George and Alberta (Gillock) Hermes.
He married Becky Compardo on June 20, 1976 in Springfield, IL and fulfilled his vow to her, to love her until death parted them.
Chuck was a member of the United States Army serving during Vietnam. After an honorable discharge, he became a Union Ironworker with Local #46. His 30 plus year career included 14 years as their apprenticeship coordinator.
He was preceded in death by his father, George; mother, Alberta; step-father, Tom Harvey; and brother, John Hermes.
Surviving are his wife, Becky; daughter, Danielle (Randy Turner); son, Matt Hermes; two sisters: Jean (Guy) Jones of Springfield, Janice (Carlo) Catalano of Rochester; sister-in-law, Gloria Hermes; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces/nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7pm Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at Staab Funeral Home.
Funeral Service will be 11am Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at Staab Funeral Home with Robert Green officiating followed by a veteran burial at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
