Carl N. Bahre
Carl N. Bahre, 94, of Sherman, died at 1:18 am, Thursday, February 22, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born April 2, 1923 in DuQuoin to A.J. and Mary Jane (Mead) Bahre. He married Dorothy Shadid on September 1, 1950.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Bahre; three daughters, Debra (Michael) Thompson of Buffalo, Kathleen (Michael) Carnduff of Pleasant Plains and Nancy (John Langfelder) Bahre of Springfield; three grandchildren, Michael Thompson, Jr., Melissa Thompson (Blake Stadel) and Ryan Carnduff (Jessica Hart); one great grandson, Randy Thompson; two nephews, Dow (Debbie) Grider and William B. Bahre (Sherri Morris); two nieces, Joann Bradley and Jackie (Tom) Troisi and several great nieces and nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, William Bahre; two sisters, Alice Grider and Elizabeth Margraff.
Carl was a United States Army Air Corps veteran serving during World War II on the island of Tinian. He was a resident of Sherman since 1975. He retired in 1983 from Illinois Bell Telephone Company after 34 years of service.
He was a member of Historic Grace Lutheran Church and American Legion Post 32. He loved to garden, woodwork, repair small engines and was always willing to help wherever needed.

Visitation: 4 – 6 pm, Thursday, March 1, 2018 at Historic Grace Lutheran Church.
Funeral Service: 6 pm, Thursday, March 1, 2018 at Historic Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor Thomas Christell officiating.
Graveside service: 10 am Friday, March 2, 2018 at Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be conducted.
Memorial contributions may be made to Historic Grace Lutheran Church, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Shriner’s Hospital for Children in St. Louis.
