Bonnie M. Skaggs
Bonnie M. Skaggs, 85, of Springfield, died at 4:39 a.m., Saturday, March 8, 2014 at The Bridge Care Suites. She was born August 6, 1928 in Litchfield to Charles and Gladys Wagner Miller. She married Joseph Skaggs on January 25, 1947 and he preceded her in death on November 10, 2002.
She is also preceded in death by her parents; a great grandson, Ryken Matthew Bailey; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Will and Marilyn Jackson, Tom and Velma Lawless, Wayne and Louise Hedgecock, and Nadine Standefer.
Survivors include two daughters, Pat (Ted) Bailey of Auburn and Vicky (Don) Brown of Riverton; one son, Jack (Ronda) Skaggs of Springfield; 10 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Ted Standefer of Petersburg and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Bonnie worked for the State of Illinois Department of Drug and Alcohol Abuse. She was a member of Awana Club, Cubbies and WOM (Women on Missions). She enjoyed working puzzles, walking, gardening and loved her grand kids and great grandkids.
Visitation: 4 -7 p.m., Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at Staab Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 13, 2014 at Staab Funeral Home with Pastor Clint Cook officiating. Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery.
