Billie Gean O'Dell

Billie Gean O’Dell, 58, of Springfield, died at 7:34 p.m., Friday, July 4, 2014, at her at her home. She was born June 30, 1956 in Springfield the daughter of William and Francis Zimmerman O’Dell.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Marsha O’Dell.

Surviving are one son, David O’Dell of Mooresville, NC; parents, William and Frances O’Dell of Springfield; three brothers: Herschel (Fran) O’Dell, Wesley (Deana) O’Dell and Patrick (Debbie) O’Dell, all of Springfield, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She worked at Hobbs for 37 years and was a Nascar fan.

As a teeneager, Billie was the first girl I ever asked out on a date. It was in her tack room at the fairgrounds. I was so shy and I suspect she knew I was going to ask her out, she waited patiently as I talked and talked and talked and then finally got the nerve to ask her. I bet she thought I'd never get up the nerve. :) Billie was a wonderful person, I'll always remember her laugh and smile. My deepest condolences to the family.

I knew Billie Gean as a teenager with Banner her horse at the Illinois State Fairgrounds. She had a warm, kind, vivacious and fun personality that she gave so freely to me as true and loyal friend in my youth. Deepest sympathies to the O'Dell family and later life friends as we all mourn her loss.

I Paula worked with Billie at Hobbs. She could always cheer the place up! She had a great personality. Danny also remembers all of the Odell family! he is so sorry to hear of your loss. May god bless you at this time of sorrow....

So sorry to hear about Billie’s passing. We all had great times at the Illinois State Fairgrounds. From running Banner (her horse) into the side of a barn, to hitting a light pole with her Camero as she and my sister (Jeanie) looked for my dad’s pen on the floor. Condolences to the whole O’Dell clan. Rest in peace Billie. Dave Ferguson
