Betty Marie Knauff
Betty Marie Knauff, 92, passed away October 14, 2017 at Lewis Memorial Christian Village surrounded by her family.
Betty Was born September 14, 1925 in Pontiac, IL to the late Richard and Marie (Bromley) Schadrow. She was raised by her grandparents Charles and Alvina Schadrow of Saunemin, IL from age six. Betty attended grade school and high school graduating in 1944 from Saunemin High School.
Betty married Gilbert Knauff, Sr. on December 20, 1944 at Ellington Field, TX. He preceded her in death February 6, 2009.
In 1969, Gil and Betty moved to Springfield from Bradley, IL with Illinois Bell Telephone. She later retired in 1989 after 20 years of service.
Betty and her family were avid campers. Betty enjoyed wood crafting. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers Club and volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House for several years. Betty was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
Betty is survived by two daughters, Karen (Dennis) Corlett of Cape Coral, FL and Paula (Jim) Huff of Cape Coral, FL; one Son, Gilbert Jr. of Springhill, FL; nine grandchildren, Scott Reid of Kansas City, MO, Kevin (Donna) Vite of Mahomet, Michelle (Kyle) Davis of Springfield, Sarah Wilk of Springfield, Elizabeth Kelly of Petersburg, Michael Kelly, Jr. of Petersburg, Jeremy (Ghislaine) Knauff of Odessa, FL, Kendra Knauff of Springhill, FL and Shawn (Julie) Knauff of Springhill, FL; one brother, Charles “Chuck” Studley of Cincinnati, OH and thirteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Gilbert, three grandchildren and two brothers.
A private graveside rites will celebrate Betty’s life at Sunny Slope Cemetery in Saunemin, IL.
