Betty J. Hardin
Betty J. Hardin, 85, of Springfield, died at 8:32 a.m., Monday, December 31, 2018 at St. John’s Hospital. She was born on August 9, 1933 to John and Lillie Hewitt. She married Wayne E. Hardin in 1955 and he survives.
Also surviving are two sons, John W. “Jay” (DeAnn) Hardin of New Berlin and Wesley P. (Caprice) Hardin of Sherman; four grandchildren, Dylan (Diana) Hardin of Auburn, Drake Hardin of New Berlin, Zachariah Hardin of Springfield, and Preston Hardin of Springfield; one great-grandson, Ryker Cole Hardin; three nieces, Mary Jo Mcguire, Jo Marie Perillo, and Jeanine Lowe; two nephews, George and Robert Hewitt; one close cousin, Hazel Stork, and several more cousins; one brother in law, David O. Hardin of Chicago and one sister in law, Betty Hardin of Springfield.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents and one brother, John H. Hewitt.
Betty was a member of Third Presbyterian Church. She was a resident of Springfield since 1955. Betty went to Riverton High School where she was Prom Queen in 1951. In 1957, she worked at the Court House for the Circuit Clerk and later retired from the Professional Adjustment Bureau after 10 years of service.
Visitation: 10-11 a.m., Friday, January 4, 2019 at Staab Funeral Home –Springfield.
Funeral Service: 11 a.m., Friday, January 4, 2019 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield, with Clint Cook officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ryker Cole Hardin Education Fund.
