SPRINGFIELD – Beth Uber, 79, of Springfield died at 4:45 a.m. Friday, April 16, 2010, at Memorial Medical Center.
She was born April 15, 1931, in Hoyt, Kan., the daughter of Earnest and Mary Edwards Jeffries. She married Earl L. Uber on Dec. 21, 1951; he preceded her in death Jan. 4, 1999.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and brothers and sisters.
She is survived by a daughter, Susan (Donald) Alwerdt of Franklin; three sons, Kevin (Edith) Uber of Springfield, Steven (Teressa) Uber of Niantic and Jeffrey (Sue) Uber of Springfield; eight grandchildren, Jessica Alwerdt (fiance, Greg Wilcox), Jeremiah (Melissa) Alwerdt, Amanda Uber, Michelle Uber, Cathy Uber, Jeffrey Dale Uber, Mary Uber and Rachel Stroud; four great-grandchildren; a sister,
Icel Martin of Topeka, Kan.; a sister-in-law, Betty Jeffries of Topeka, Kan.; a brother-in-law, Barney Uber of Horton, Kan.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Beth was a resident of Springfield for most of her life. She worked at the Senior Center Daily Bread.
Beth was a member of Parkway Church of Christ. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, working and socializing at the center and her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 20, 2010, at Staab Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 21, 2010, at Staab Funeral Home, with Bob Teel officiating. Burial will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
