Berniece M. Edwards

Berniece M. Edwards, 86, of Springfield, died at 9:53 am Saturday, January 26, 2013 at River Birch. She was born May 9, 1926 in Springfield to George and Jessie (Collins) Hashman. She married Francis Edwards and he preceded her in death on December 3, 1987. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Lila Shipman.

Surviving are a daughter, Judy (Mel) Rich and a son, Frank (Cinda) Edwards, both of Springfield; three grandchildren, Nancianne (Mark) Knipfer of Lake Forest, IL and Sheri (Doug) Iwanicki and Alex Edwards, both of Springfield; four great grandchildren, Julia and Abby Knipfer and Madi and Gabriel Iwanicki; two brothers, George (Agnes) Hashman and Kenny “Hash” Hashman, both of Springfield; several nieces, nephews, cousins and great nieces and nephews.

Berniece has lived in Springfield all of her life and was a member of West Side Christian Church. She was an avid fan of politics and the Chicago Cubs. She retired as an LPN, pediatric nurse.

Visitation: 4 – 7 pm Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at Staab Funeral Home.

Funeral Services: 7:00 pm Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at Staab Funeral Home with Vaughn Beeman officiating.

Private graveside services will be held at a later date

Memorials may be given to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Lake Springfield Christian Assembly.
