Bernice Rose "Bea" Guenther
Bernice Rose “Bea” Guenther, 84, of Springfield, died at 7:31 pm, Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at Memorial Medical Center. She was born September 23, 1929 at Johnstone Farm Southeast of Williamsville, to David Robert and Mabel Agnes Darnall Johnstone. She married R. Deane Mickle and he preceded her in death. She later married LeRoy E. “Lee” Guenther in 1989 and he preceded her in death on January 2, 1995.
Survivors include her three children, M. Deanne Mickle Greer of Fremont, MO, Jeffrey Mickle of Springfield and Dan (Brenda) Mickle of Springfield; three grandchildren Jessica Cantrell and Hannah and Molly Greer; six great grand-children two sisters, Virginia Peratt of Bradenton, FL and Mary Fowler of Edmond, OK and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; one brother Harold Johnstone and five sisters, Lucille Wise, Alice Arnett, Ila Cunningham, Velma Sutton and Margaret Smith.
Bea was a resident of Springfield most of her life. She retired from the State of Illinois as a Secretary for the Senate Republican Staff and also worked for Capital City Paper Company.
She was a graduate of Williamsville High School and was a member of Sweet Adelines, Silver Steppers, the Red Hat Society and Margarita Club. She loved sewing, reading, dancing, ceramics, wintering in Florida and was an avid gardener.
Visitation: 12 – 2 pm, Monday, June 16, 2014 at Staab Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 2 pm, Monday, June 16, 2014 at Staab Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Gifford officiating.
Burial will follow at Wolf Creek Cemetery in Williamsville.
Memorial contributions may be made to a Charity of the Donor’s Choice.

Bea will be missed at our Y- NOT red hat society meetings. She was a lovely lady and a joy to have met and have lunch with. She will be truly missed from her sisters of the Red Hats.
