Bernard H. Spinner
SPRINGFIELD – Bernard H. Spinner, 82, of Springfield died 12:35 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2008, at his residence. He was born Dec. 29, 1925, in Pana, the son of Louis C. and Irene J. Ernst Spinner. He married Mary Eileen Hodalski on Sept. 11, 1948.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Eileen Spinner of Springfield, a daughter, Mary E. (husband, Ray) Hawley of Florissant, Mo.; three sons, Bernard Michael (wife, Paula) Spinner of Crownsville, Md., Louis James (wife, Mary) Spinner of St. Peters, Mo. and Paul Arthur (wife, Shelley) Spinner of Sedalia, Mo.; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a sister, Barbara (husband, William) Messersmith of El Paso, Texas; a brother, Louis V. Spinner of Springfield; eight nieces; and two nephews.
He was a resident of Springfield since 1989.
He worked as a civil engineer at Sverdrup and Parcel retiring after 40 years of service.
He was a member of Christ the King Church. He was a member of the United States Army serving during World War II.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, 2008, at Staab Funeral Home, with prayer service beginning at 5 p.m.
Funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 26, 2008, at Christ the King Church, with
Msgr. David Lantz officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. John’s Hospice.
