Barbara Errett Roseberry
Barbara Roseberry passed from this world on July 12, 2015, surrounded by her loving children. She was born Barbara Errett on December 6, 1926 in Miami Beach, Florida, to her parents Margaret Davern Errett and George Arthur Errett who passed away in 1960 and 1982 respectively. Barbara grew up in Springfield and attended Pleasant Hill and Springfield High School with her life-long friend Betty (McClanahan) Schoenborn. On July 3, 1949 she met Raymond Dennis Roseberry at the Riverton Athletic Cub. They fell in love and were married on December 26th that same year. They built a home themselves in Riverton where they raised their four children.
Barbara was a member of St. James Catholic Church for more than 30 years and was active in the Riverton community as President of the St. James Altar and Rosary Society, as a Scout leader, and as a frequent volunteer for the school district. She was employed as an Accountant for the Illinois Department of Transportation from 1969 – 1991. Barb was a wonderful cook and seamstress and traveled extensively, having toured the United States, Europe and Asia. Barb continually learned and had a passion for family genealogy. She was an avid member of Lincoln Land Community College’s Academy of Lifelong Learning.
She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond; brothers, George and Gerald and sister, Geraldine.
Barbara is survived by her children Lou Ann Morrison (Bruce) of McLeansboro, Joseph Roseberry of Springfield, Margaret Elaine Meiron (Stuart) of Peoria and Tim Roseberry (Leanne) of Springfield. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 4-7 pm, Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at Staab Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7 pm.
Funeral Mass: 10 am, Thursday, July 16, 2015 at St. James church in Riverton, With Reverend Raphael Paul de Moreno officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
