Barbara "Barb" Veseling
Barbara “Barb” Veseling, 73, of Springfield, died at 12:45 am, Friday, August 4, 2017 at Memorial Medical Center, surrounded by her family. She was born October 30, 1943 in Springfield to Charles John and Emily Agnes Grabowski Laswell. She married Edward C. “Ed” Veseling, Jr. on June 23, 1962 and he survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Sheri Rodgers of Bloomington and Susan (Robert) Campbell of Decatur; five grandchildren, James Brent (fiancée Maggie Stein) Rodgers III of Rolla, MO, Michael Todd Ivy Jr. of Decatur, Blake Edward Rodgers of Bloomington, Alexis Faith Ivy of Decatur and Jarrod (fiancée Candace Lehman) Campbell of Decatur; one brother and one sister and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Barbara was a graduate of Ursuline Academy and a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church. She was very proud of the 25 years she was involved with the Girl Scouts. She was also a ready volunteer for many causes during her lifetime, being very proud of her accomplishments working on the Ursuline Chicken Dinner ad book. She cared for many family members and friends during times of need. Barb was a member of Red Hats, the Samaritans of St. John’s Hospital, DANK German American Club and the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association. She was a foster mother to over 100 children over the years and was a homemaker.
Visitation: 4:00-7:00 pm, Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at Staab Funeral Home with a prayer service at 4:00 pm.
Funeral Mass: 10 AM, Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at St. Aloysius Church with Reverend Steve Arisman officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Aloysius Church or Simmons Cancer Institute.
