Barbara A. Moore
Barbara Ann Moore, 66, of Springfield, passed away unexpectedly at her home, on Saturday January 31, 2015.
She was born on September 21, 1948, in Springfield, Illinois, to the late Paul Edward and Mary F. Wahl.
Barb is survived by her two daughters, Kristen (Brian) Nagle of Aurora, IL and Shannon (Joey) Moore of DeKalb, IL. She has five beautiful Grandchildren; Benjamin, Bridget, and Molly Nagle and Cameron and Wyatt Moore. She is also survived by her younger sister, Kathy (Jim) Bradley of Mt. Pulaski, nephew, Chad (Jennifer) Bettis, and great nephew Taylor Bettis, of Springfield. Her maternal Aunt Catherine (Charles) Phelps also resides in Springfield.
Barb was a dedicated and determined person. She worked her way up through the ranks at Illinois Bell, (AT&T) beginning her career as a telephone operator at the age of 19. She retired as a highly respected manager 42 years later, proud of both her time and service throughout her career. Barb truly enjoyed leading her “teams” and made life-long friends with so many fellow co-workers over the years.
Barb adored her family. She encouraged her daughters to follow her remarkable and thoughtful way of listening carefully, but speaking to be heard. Her inspirational and sage advice was always offered with a reassuring story about something similar she had experienced and a huge hug.
Barb was also extremely artistic and creative. She enjoyed stamping handmade cards and crocheting and was especially gifted at writing and illustrating short stories and poems for her grandchildren. Above all, she loved to read and her passion for exploring new worlds through books inspired her family to embrace the magic of words as well.
Forever young at heart, Barb was not afraid to be silly and could often be found on the floor playing games and goofing around with her grandchildren. Her love of friendly competition was shared with her family during many games of Go-Fish, Scrabble, Uno, and Boggle.
Barb’s generous heart and beautiful smile will be missed by all, but remembered forever.
Friends and family are welcome to celebrate and share memories of Barb’s life during a Memorial Gathering, which will be held from 4-6 pm on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at Staab Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to
