Barbara A. Perkins
Barbara A. Perkins, 58, of Chatham, died at 2:58 pm, Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO. She was born February 2, 1957 in Scottsbluff, NE to Reverend Donald and Edna Morice Maul. She married George Perkins on August 20, 1977 and he survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Julia (Andrew) Schall of Las Vegas, NV; two sons, Jacob (Tara) Perkins of Springfield, and Joel Perkins of Atlanta, GA; four grandchildren, Madalyn, Micah and Grayson Perkins and Bethany Schall; mother, Edna (Carl) Landmesser of Sarasota, FL; one sister, Abigail Schaffer of Tecumseh, MO; three brothers, David Maul of Honolulu, HI, Dan (Susan) Maul of Buford, GA and Matthew (Tanya) Maul of Ramsey, MN and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father.
Barb was a very involved member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Chatham serving the Lord by caring for the church’s shut ins, making hospital visits with the elderly, advocating patient care and end of life care for those who were in need. Her heart’s desire was to serve others well and worked diligently to see that those around her were provided for. Outside of her passion for serving others, she loved the great Smokey Mountains and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She received her BSN from the University of Illinois Springfield and worked for over thirty years as a Registered Nurse.
Visitation: 4-7 pm, Monday, January 18, 2016 at Staab Funeral Home with an additional visitation from 10-11 am, Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Chatham.
Funeral Service: 11 am, Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Chatham with Reverend Clarence Rogers officiating. Burial will follow at Chatham Memorial Cemetery.
