Barbara Ann Matthew
Barbara A. Matthew, 80, of Springfield was at her home when she went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 13, 2018.
Barbara was born on January 18, 1938 in Springfield, the daughter of Toni and Julia Muttra. She married Jack on April 30, 1960. She was a graduate of Lanphier High School in 1957. She retired from Federated Funeral Directors after fifty years of service. Barbara had a strong faith in God and was a member of Sacred Heart Church.
She dearly loved her family and spending time with them. She treasured long rides with her husband of fifty-eight years and had a special love for Daytona Beach and the Ocean. She enjoyed tending to her flowers and preparing her family’s favorite meals, but she truly had a gift for cleaning and making things “shine”.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Marian Friedmeyer.
She is survived by her husband, Jack, four daughters, Cindy (Mark) Gumble, Shelly (Eric) Cable, Stacy (Tim) Burkett and Lori Childs; nine grandchildren; great grandson, due in the fall; sister, Mary (Ron) Barnett and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation: 10:30 – 11:30 am, Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Sacred Heart Church, 730 South 12th Street, Funeral Mass following, with Father Jim Isaacson, S.J.C. officiating. Burial will follow at Cumberland Sugar Creek Cemetery in Glenarm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sacred Heart Church.
Staab Funeral Home is in charge of cremation and arrangements.
