August H. "Auggie" Brazier
SPRINGFIELD – August H. “Auggie” Brazier, 81, of Springfield, died at 5:25 am, Saturday, February 28, 2015 at St. John’s Hospice. He was born February 24, 1934 in Springfield to Leo and Marie (Robison) Brazier. He married Darlene M. Seitz on August 12, 1955 and she preceded him in death on March 23, 2005. Also preceding him death were his parents, wife, Darlene, two brothers, Robert and Arthur Brazier and one sister, Dorothy Brazier.
He is survived by two daughters: Dee Fulgenzi of Springfield, Sue (Ken) Dunlevy of Springfield; three sons: Jim (Linda) Brazier of Springfield, Steve (Lisa) Brazier of Chatham, and Dennis (Lisa A.) Brazier of Springfield; eleven grandchildren: Erica and Megan Fulgenzi; Joe and Drew Dunlevy; Haley, Hanna Brazier, Steven Branson and Nicholas Brazier; Harlen, Alicia and Cindy Starkey; five great-grandchildren: Lucy Grace Gribbens; Derek and Clayton Keepler; and Arianna and Bently Starkey; one sister, Helen McCawley of Springfield, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Auggie was a Springfield resident all his life and a member of St. Patrick’s Church. He was a diesel mechanic by trade retiring from Allied Waste. He was a US Army Veteran serving during the Peacetime War from 1956 to 1958. He was also a member of the Eagles Aerie #437 and enjoyed driving and building racecars. He loved the family to visit but also loved to see them go.
Visitation: 4-7 pm, Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at Staab Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 10 am, Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at Staab Funeral Home with Joe Cleaver officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where the Sangamon County Inter Veterans Burial Detail and US Army will conduct military honors.
