Arthur H. “Art” Lamken, 91, of Springfield died Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at St. John’s Hospice. He was born November 24, 1921 the son of Henry and Louise Lamken.

He was a lifelong resident of Springfield and attended Springfield High School where he was an outstanding athlete and an All-Conference football player. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Art was a World War II Veteran and was a member of the Army Air Corps. He served in England prior to the Normandy invasion and worked on B-17’s. He then served in France.

Art was a brick mason by trade and was a member of Bricklayers and Allied Crafts Workers Local #8 of Illinois. After retirement, he worked at the Patricia Doyle Auction Gallery.

Art is survived by his wife of 70 years, Betty; nephews, Jay Staley and John Kublick; nieces, Lib MacLaren, Patty Doyle and Chris Silver.

Private family graveside services will be held.

Memorials may be given to the Animal Protective League.
