Antoineet Y. Parks
RIVERTON – Antoinette Y. Parks, 71, of Riverton died at 3:01 p.m. Sunday, July 5, 2009, at St. John’s Hospital.
She was born January 17, 1938, in Springfield, the daughter of Anton W. and Irene Graham Valenti. She married Virgil G. Parks on Feb. 15, 1958; he preceded her in death on Aug. 14, 1990. Also preceding her in death were her parents; and a daughter, Christine Parks.
Mrs. Parks, a resident of Riverton since 1971, retired from St. Francis Convent in 1998 as a dietician and formerly was a beautician.
She was a member of St. James Church in Riverton and Eagles Auxiliary Aerie 4361 in Riverton. She enjoyed playing bingo, poker and the slots, and also enjoyed spending time with her granddaughter, Haleigh.
Surviving are two sons, Glenn Parks of Riverton and Mark Parks (companion, Rebecca Conrad) of Springfield; a granddaughter, Haleigh; two sisters, Mary (Ralph) Grigsby of Riverton and Pat (Harry) Cowan of Athens; two brothers, Mick (Nanette) Valenti of Springfield and Terry Valenti of Divernon; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and her lab, Rose Parks.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, July 9, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home with a prayer service at 5 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 10, 2009, at St. James Church in Riverton with Father John Nolan and the Rev. Joseph Ring officiating.
Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery.
