In Anya's brief obituary it was not possible to provide in depth the richness of this woman's soul. To me she was an exemplary student of English in my early classes at Lincoln Land Community College, and then a dear friend whose love of learning kept our relationship thriving with conversation and small book group explorations throughout the following years. She craved knowledge and devoured books and news magazines in English, her third language. She was an unabashed advocate for the downtrodden and an outspoken critic of the less-caring well-to-do. Among my hundreds of former ESL students, she was an outstanding example of one who had a well-honed, in-touch grasp of reality and current affairs. She was a brilliant lady with a deep appreciation of culture and the arts. And she captured our hearts. Her impromptu lunches for us, replete with bits of delicious Ukrainian and Russian bits of this and that punctuated by an occasional splash of Vodka (some infused with hot peppers), kept the dialogue going non-stop and the admiration warm and tender. My husband and I loved this precious immigre who came to Springfield via the Jewish Federation. Our lives will now be less than full without her lyrical greetings, rich presence, and her perceptive inquiry. Spasybi, Anya Lynn King Spasybi, Anya. Lynn & George King
