Angelina "Angie" Tait
SPRINGFIELD, IL- Angelina “Angie” Tait, 94, of Springfield, died at 3:15 pm, Friday, September, 29, 2017 at St. John’s Hospital. She was born on August 19, 1923 in Hartshorne, OK to August and Frances (Gizzi) Ciotti. She married George Tait on October 20, 1945 and he preceded her in death on January 24, 1999.
Survivors include one son, Bradford Tait of Springfield; three daughters, Sr. Kathleen Ann Tait, OP, Karen (George) Schultz, and Diane Best all of Springfield; eleven grandchildren, Kimberly Kirkorian, Keven Tait, Colin Tait, Erin Tait, Jeron Schultz, Carrie Schultz, Stacie Schultz, Jasen Best, Jeremy Best, Jordan Best and Janae Best; six great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George Tait; one brother, Louis Ciotti; and two sisters, Margaret Nemcic and Alice Cieply.
Angie was a Springfield resident since 1954 working for Sangamo Electric and the State of Illinois Department of Energy and Natural resources.
She was a United States Navy Veteran serving during WWII.
Angie’s warm and loving home was open to all and often filled with homemade Italian dinners. Her grandchildren were the light of her life. Her love and generosity touched many friends and acquaintances. She provided family love and support, laughter and compassion. Angie was a secretary, model, golfer, Cubs fan and most of all a wonderful mom and grandma.
Visitation: 4-7 PM, Monday, October 2, 2017 at Staab Funeral Home-Springfield. A prayer service will be held at 4 PM.
Funeral Mass: 10:30 AM, Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at the Church of the Little Flower with Reverend Allen Kemme officiating. Burial will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be conducted.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Dominican Sisters of Springfield or the Alzheimer’s Association.
