Andrew A. Vollmer
Andrew A. Vollmer, 76, of Springfield, died at 5:35 p.m. Thursday, October 20, 2011 at St. John’s Hospice. He was born on February 16, 1935 in Springfield, IL to Andrew and Rose Blust Vollmer. He married Ilene M. Augustine on June 9, 1956 and she preceded him in death on January 6, 2010.
Andrew is survived by a daughter Char Dupent of Edwardsville, three sons Frank (Kathleen) Vollmer, William (Tisha) Vollmer, and Chris Vollmer, all of Springfield; one sister, Barb Robson of Springfield, 8 grandchildren: Casey, Nick, Kelsey, Jason, Daphne, Drew, Cody and Blake, 3 great-grandchildren: Savannah, Jayden and Malakhi, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Andrew was a lifelong resident of Springfield and retired from the State of Illinois EPA. He was a Navy Veteran and member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and a former member of St. Patrick’s Church. Andrew loved golfing, hunting, and fishing and was a social butterfly.
Visitation: 4 – 7 p.m. Monday, October 24, 2011 at Staab Funeral Home with a prayer service at 4 p.m.
Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at St. Agnes Church with Reverend Robert Jallas officiating.
Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be conducted.
Memorials may be given to the Eagles Cancer Fund or St. John’s Hospice.
