Allen Wayne Webb, 75, of Springfield, passed away on Monday, November 8, 2021 at Springfield Memorial Hospital. He was born August 20, 1946, in Springfield, the son of George Albert and Alvina Caroline (Reicks) Webb. He married Gayle E. Douglas on December 26, 1968.

Survivors include his wife, Gayle of Springfield; daughters, Debbie S. (Webb) Shipman of Williamsville and Becky G., spouse: Larry, Jr., (Webb) Travis of Auburn; granddaughter, Hannah C. Travis, attending college at Missouri Science & Technology in Rolla, MO; grandson, Eli J. Travis of Auburn; stepbrother, David Webb of Eugene, OR; stepsisters, Susan Webb, and M. Carol Webb, both of Lincoln and Jean Webb of New Haven, CT; sister-in-law, Barbara (Ed) Staats of Louisville, KY; and several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and one great-great niece.

He is preceded in death by his father, George; mother, Alvina; stepmother, Mary Francis (Kim) Webb; brother, Alvin G. Webb; and great-nephew, Jacob Kyle Davis.
Allen attended Lawndale Elementary School and graduated from Lincoln Community High School in 1964. He worked for General Services Administration Public Building Services from 1991, retiring in 2006; General Telephone Co. of Lincoln from 1969–1976; and Lawndale Elevator, owned by his father, Albert, until joining the military.

Allen was a U.S. Army veteran from 1976–1990 where he retired at the rank of Sergeant First Class; he then served in Vietnam and was a U.S. Air Force veteran from 1966–1969.

Allen was affiliated with the National VFW. He volunteered as Bible Study Leader at Brendan Gardens for 5 years, Mission Work Trip to Henderson, KY for 2 years. He enjoyed woodworking, Bible
Study and music. Allen won the National Award from General Services Administration.

Visitation: 4:00–7:00 pm, Monday, November 15, 2021 with a second visitation from 9:30–10:30 am, Tuesday, November 16, 2021, both at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.

Funeral Service: 10:30 am, Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield with Reverend Jim Poole officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be conducted.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Shriners Hospitals for Children.
